Artemis III schedule realism and lunar landing system readiness

April 5, 2026r/nasa

In r nasa, Artemis II excitement is paired with skepticism about whether Artemis III can really fly next year, with debate centered on SpaceX Lunar Starship and Blue Origin Blue Moon readiness and what milestones are actually on track at Kennedy Space Center.

my concern right now is about the readiness of Artemis III.
I believe the Space Launch System and Orion for Artemis III should be ready for launch at Kennedy Space Center by next year but I do worry that both SpaceX's Lunar Starship and Blue Origin's Blue Moon will not be ready for flight next year.
I think Blue has a good chance of meeting the deadlines.
I think Starship is more of a stretch.
Just for info, the Boeing Core Stage ships to KSC at the end of this month, to be mated to the engine section and stacked at the end of this year.
