In r-space, some are questioning why Artemis II goes around the Moon on the first crewed flight, while others frame the 10 day Orion mission as a critical deep space systems and human factors test.

wouldn't it have been safer to first do a 10 day mission in Earth orbit to do more comprehensive tests where they could quickly land if there are problems?
There will be four astronauts in the Orion capsule for 10 days.
About the same usable space as Dragon but this would be twice as long as any free-floating Dragon mission.
Maybe have to go further back to even Gemini 7 for that level of capsule-only confinement.
