Landing pages and fake checkout for early validation

March 31, 2026r/SaaS

In r/SaaS, builders recommend validating demand before building by launching a landing page and running a fake checkout to measure intent. This approach is framed as a time saver when compared to building full features before proof.

“prove it works first” is simple but hard to follow.
I started doing landing pages + fake checkout before building anything.
Use tools like Runable or Carrd to spin stuff up quickly. Saves a ton of time.
Problem: People build ideas without proof anyone will pay
the only thing that actually worked for me was posting the landing page before the product existed and seeing if anyone signed up.
no build, just a waitlist and a clear description of the problem.
