Residency match disappointment and professionalism risks from med influencer posting

April 4, 2026r/medicalschool

In r/medicalschool, a thread warns that public venting about not matching a desired specialty can look unprofessional and may harm relationships in a new program, especially when amplified on TikTok.

Recently saw a popular med influencer who wanted ortho didn’t match and did soap into family medicine.
They are posting a lot of shade and (in my opinion) inappropriate and unprofessional TikToks about not matching ortho.
imagine how your coresidents and future program feels about you posting shit like this?
Clearly she didn’t want family medicine
