Stealth argues that watching all trailers and Mario Movie Directs reduces the impact of new locations in the film. It highlights a marketing tradeoff between hype and preserving discovery.

My one criticism for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (maybe it's really a criticism of me), but if you watched all the trailers, watched the Directs with Miyamoto, the locations you visit aren't a surprise.
