Indie self-promo fatigue and moderation pressure in general gaming subs

April 3, 2026r/pcgaming

In r/pcgaming, readers are pushing for stricter rules because frequent indie launch and quitting-job posts feel like marketing spam, reflecting a distribution challenge for indie devs outside dev-focused communities.

I wish rule #2 was stricter.
I'm tired of seeing "Just released my first project on Steam!" or "Quit my job to make this game!" multiple times a day.
There's already a ton of subs for indie devs to market their stuff, I don't think they really even fit in this sub.
