Raptor R87 removed from Booster 19 after static fire for inspections

March 31, 2026Elisar Priel, Alejandro Alcantarilla Romera (Alex)

Elisar Priel and Alejandro Alcantarilla Romera report a familiar Raptor engine R87 was seen rolling at McGregor after being spotted on Booster 19 post static fire, implying at least one engine was removed for inspection and testing ahead of Starship flight 12 preparations.

The @NASASpaceflight McGregor Live team spotted a Raptor engine rolling by earlier today that looked very familiar R87, which was last spotted on B19 following its static fire test at Starbase, and was replaced for testing/inspections prior to flight 12.
Interesting, so at least one of the engines came off B19 after the static fire test. Likely for inspections/testing after having been on a real vehicle. Lots of data to gather
